Palawan netfest goes to S. Kudarat

UP-AND-COMING players from Sultan Kudarat take center stage as action in the 2014 Palawan Pawnshop-Palawan Express Pera Padala regional age-group presented by Technifibre resumes Friday.

Vince Tugade, 12, Minet April Bentillo, 8, and Carlyn Bless Guarde, 12, will lead the local players in the four-day tournament, which is making a return to the circuit after staging the Palawan Pawnshop President’s ELO Cup Regional last July.

Junior standouts from Gen. Santos City, M’lang, Davao, Digos, Kabacan, Kidapawan City, Koronadal City, Tupi, Alamada and Tacuron are expected to challenge the trio.

Among them is Shaina Rivera, the 13-year-old find from Monkayo Compostela Valley who racked up three victories, including the girls’ 18-and-under crown, in the previous leg.

“We expect another banner field since tennis is very popular in Sultan Kudarat, said Palawan Pawnshop COO Bobby Castro.
