Park, Celestino head Samsung Am golf cast

Former National Tournament of Club Champions winner Park Jung-soo and junior standout Lawrence Celestino head the cast in the Samsung Amateur Golf Open today and tomorrow at the challenging Eastridge Golf Club course in Binangonan, Rizal.

Park, a mainstay of the Eastridge Federation League squad, and Celestino, the Philippine champion of the Faldo Series, are expected to slug it out for the championship division honors along with brothers Aristeo and Agustin Mata and Jet Mathay.

More than 90 players are seeing action in the 36-hole tournament featuring competitions in five handicap brackets in the men’s division and three in the ladies category.

Major tournament sponsors are Inquirer Golf, Glucos Care, A Round of Golf, Omnisource International, International Armouring Corp. and BCLN Golf. Minor sponsors are Dynamic Sports and Leisure, Titleist, Custom Clubmakers, ABW Leaves of Life, CranUTI and Gargol.

Up for grabs are Samsung laptops and a P100,000 cash prize for an ace and water-proof cellular phones for all division champions.

The leading ladies entries are Inez del Rosario, Jonah Ilagan and former jungolfer Matet Salivio.
