Tornados nail second straight FBA triumph

MANILA, Philippines—The Foton Tornados, representing Pampanga, turned back Quezon City-UP Maroons, 97-82, to post their second straight win in the recently-launched Filsports Basketball Association (FBA) in Malolos, Bulacan, and take the lead in the fledgling six-team league.

Foton uncorked a 15-3 run in the second quarter of the game to take a 55-38 lead at the half before stepping on the gas pedal to make it 77-58 at the end of three periods.

Levi Hernandez led all scorers, chipping in 30 points for the Tornados. Former Maroon Mikee Reyes added 20 points and 10 assists.

Foton tries to stretch its streak when it plays Antipolo on March 14 at Ynares Sports Center.

“The  team, despite some player changes, has been responding well. Against UP, the boys had a good offensive game throughout and are gaining more and more confidence,” said Foton coach Budds Reyes.
