FBA: Laguna Warriors halt Foton Tornadoes’ 3-game win streak

Filipino-American Ryan Wetherell exploded for 38 points to power the Laguna Busa Warriors to a come-from-behind 89-86 win over erstwhile unbeaten Pampanga Foton Tornadoes in the FilSports Basketball Association (FBA) Unity Games Friday night.

Wetherell took charge in the fourth as the Warriors overhauled a nine-point deficit to snatch their first victory in four starts at Angeles University Foundation Gym in Pampanga.

“He was simply fantastic in this game, he’s ready for the PBA,” said Laguna coach and former pro Nic Belasco of his prized ward, who missed the team’s two games due to ankle injury.

In the other game, Metro Racal Artemis routed the Malolos Mighty Bulsu, 87-72, to force a tie for the lead with the Tornadoes at 3-1.

Jan Acebron scored 16 points, snared five rebounds and dished off seven assists for the Autocenter Artemis.
