Castro leads Talk ‘N Text past Purefoods anew and into finals

Jayson Castro picked up where he left off and Talk ‘N Text gave defending champion Purefoods the boot following a 79-66 win in Game 4 to advance in the 2015 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals on Saturday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Castro equaled his career-high with 33 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the 3-point range after also shooting the lights out in a Game 3 victory last Thursday where he made 3-pointers en route to a 28-point outing.

“Jayson has evolved from a go-to-guy to a passer. He just makes it easier for us because he gives the other team problems,” said TNT head coach Jong Uichico.

The Texters will be making their 16th Finals appearance on Wednesday at the start of their best-of-seven duel with the well-rested Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.

Talk ‘N Text scored just 28 points in the first half, its lowest output in a half in 10 seasons but it held Purefoods to only 25 points in the second half.

Hotshots import Denzel Bowles was limited to just 14 points on 3-of-15 shooting from the field after averaging 41.0 points per game on 63 percent shooting in the previous four games in the semifinals. RC
