Chikara routs Adamson, revs up Grand Slam softball drive
CHIKARA of Brunei notched its second straight victory after a shaky start, running away with an emphatic 7-0 romp over Adamson yesterday and putting its title-retention drive back on track in the ninth Summer Grand Slam softball tournament at Clark Freeport Zone in Clark Field, Pampanga.
The Chikara clouters used their experience and solid team play to thwart the Lady Falcons throughout their seven-inning duel as they continued their surge after absorbing a shock 5-6 setback to the Adamson Alumni side in the opener of the week-long event sponsored by Cebuana Lhuillier last Wednesday.
Chikara, which also stunned Adamson to snatch the women’s division crown of the country’s premier softball tournament, leaned on former Philippine team players to overpower the San Marcelino-based squad, which paraded five members of the Philippine Blu Girls.
