Freego: Eaglets still unscathed; Braves prevail

ATENEO streaked to its sixth straight win while Arellano University turned back De La Salle Zobel in the 8th Smart-PCABL (Philippine Chinese Amateur Basketball League) Freego Cup last Tuesday at Philippine Buddhacare gym in Quezon City.

Ateneo trounced defending champion Chiang Kai Shek College, 83-55, to remain undefeated in Group A.  SJ Belangel paced the Eaglets with 16 points.

Giuilmer dela Torre and Carlo Abadeza combined for 23 of Arellano’s 31 points in the final period to lead the Braves to an 84-79 win and solo second spot in Group A (6-1).

Dela Torre finished with 24 points to bag another Freego Player of the Game award.

In other games, Perpetual notched its first win in five starts after a 73-54 drubbing of AMA University while Far Eastern University outlasted Letran, 66-58.
