Cabrera, Ang strike in Palawan
PUERTO PRINCESA CITY—The new Shell-Palawan International Circuit drew the best from young aces Gabe Tayao Cabrera and Jacob Ang of Eagle Cement who romped to their third straight triumphs recently in the third leg of the 2015 Petron Blaze 100 ROK Karting Super Series in Barangay Sta. Monica here.
Cabrera thwarted veteran VJ Suba in the premier ROK Shifter class to stay on course for the coveted Karter of the Year plum while Ang fortified his solo leadership in the KF Junior Blaze 100 of the races sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines.
Cabrera battled Suba in an exciting duel that had the crowd roaring everytime they diced for the lead.
Article continues after this advertisementBut Cabrera, last year’s Junior Karter of the Year and Asian Junior champion, proved the better racer over the new track as pulled in front to complete a three-race sweep.
Cabrera also set the fastest lap time of 1:01.371 in the seventh lap of the qualifying heat.
Ang wrapped up the 16-lap Final race in 16 minutes 9.463 seconds, 6.799 seconds clear of Mikey Jordan.
