Tennis aces gain semis; Blu Girls rip Indonesia
SINGAPORE—Men’s tennis assured itself of a bronze medal while women’s softball scored easy victory in the Southeast Asian Games competitions both held in Kallang.
The men’s team of Treat Huey, Francis Casey Alcantara, Jeson Patrombon and Ruben Gonzales shut out Cambodia, 3-0, in the quarterfinal of the team tie event at Kallang Tennis Center.
Gonzales touched off the rout with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Mam Palkum in first singles, while Patrombon outlasted Bun Kenny, 6-1, 2-6, 6-3, in the other singles.
Article continues after this advertisementIt was easy picking for Grand Slam veterans Huey and Alcantara who dominated Kim Delton and Long Samneang, 6-3, 6-2.
In the nearby softball field, the legendary Blu Girls sent across a tough message after destroying Indonesia, 6-0.
The Blu Girls highlighted their rout of the Indonesians with four runs in the fifth inning.
