PH softball sets sights on bigger prizes

Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (Asaphil) president Jean Henri Lhuillier expressed elation over the twin gold medals of national softball teams  Blu Boys and Blu Girls in the recent 28th Southeast Asian Games in Singapore.

The men’s team bested Indonesia, 6-4, while the women’s squad also delivered gold as expected with a 3-0 victory over Thailand for  their fifth SEA Games gold.

The SEA Games is one of several tune-up tournament for the national softball teams, including the World Men’s Championships in Canada next month.

“I’m so proud of their performance and the way they fought every match,” said Lhuillier.  “They showed so much class and character. These wins prove that with the right training programs and support, our athletes can bring glory to the country.”

The national softball teams are included in  Cebuana Lhuillier’s sports program. Also part of the program are tennis players Katharina Lehnert, Treat Huey, Ruben Gonzales and Francis Casey Alcantara; bowler Enzo Hernandez; and basketball players Norbert Torres and Almond Vosotros.

“We at Lhuillier Sports are very proud of our athletes’ achievements so far. We look forward to more medals in the coming days,” said Lhuillier.
