If De La Hoya still has hunger as boxer, he can still fight—Pacquiao

As Oscar De La Hoya considers a potential comeback in the ring, Manny Pacquiao gave the Golden Boy one piece of advice: if you can still fight, go for it.

Pacquiao said there was nothing wrong in fighting again at 42 years old if Dela Hoya feels he still has something left in the tank.

“It depends on him, if there’s nothing wrong with him, if he’s healthy, he can go,” Pacquiao told INQUIRER.net Wednesday night.

“He can still do it if he still has that hunger in him as a boxer.”

Floyd Mayweather Jr., whom Pacquiao lost to via unanimous decision last May, challenged De La Hoya to come out of retirement and fight him in September in what could be a rematch of their 2007 bout.

De La Hoya, who is also now a boxing promoter, hung up his gloves in 2008 after Pacquiao bludgeoned him for eight rounds.

“Look, I’m retired, I’m happy, I’m content. I’m never coming back. I’m gonna continue growing Golden Boy,” De La Hoya said in an Instagram post after Money called him out.

But after a few days, De La Hoya backtracked and said he was seriously considering fighting again either Mayweather or Gennady Golovkin. CFC
