CSB blanks San Sebastian with injured Soltones playing libero

Jeanette Panaga scored 18 points as College of St. Benilde blanked San Sebastian College, 25-18, 26-24, 25-11, to cap off the opening day of the Shakey’s V-League Collegiate Conference Saturday at The Arena in San Juan.

Panaga built a wall that anchored the Lady Blazers net defense with seven blocks while Jannine Navarro recorded 12 points.

The Lady Stags had little to show on the offensive end with their best scorer Gretchel Soltones reduced to playing the role of a libero due to a shoulder injury.

Soltones, known for her explosive attacks, was limited to receiving the ball and was a nonfactor as her hurting right shoulder continued to bother her.

“I need to rest my shoulder for at least one month,” said Soltones, who had been nursing the injury for two months now.

Nikka Dalisay and Jolina Labiano tallied nine points each to pace San Sebastian.
