Orchard, Cangolf hurdle rivals
ORCHARD and Canlubang barge into the WGAP Circuit leaders, ruling the top two classes while Alabang snared Class C honors in the fourth leg of the Champion Infinity-presented event at Forest Hills Golf and Country Club in Antipolo, Rizal, recently.
Marissa Romano scored 42 Stableford points and drew solid backup from Eulalia Yoshino, who fired a 37, and Eagle Ace Superal and Maria Ame Dy, who made 32s, as Orchard pooled a 143 and beat Valley Golf by two for the Class A crown.
It was a big rebound for the Dasmariñas-based squad after placing sixth at home last month.
Article continues after this advertisementThe Valley ladies assembled a 141 on a pair of 37s by Violeta Pegels and Inez del Rosario, a 34 by Menchu Uyenco and a 33 by Belinda del Rosario as they nipped the host squad in the countback to claim runner-up honors in the premier class of the circuit organized by the Women’s Golf Association of the Philippines.
Elizabeth Valen and Nelda Roguel led Forest Hills with 37 and 36 points, respectively, while Tess Staub and Cristina Lava shot 34s. Tagaytay placed fourth with a 136 followed by Villamor, which edged Canlubang for fifth in the countback after turning in 131s in the event sponsored by Shell Philippines, Metro Pacific, Golf Depot, Ping and De La Salle Hospital.
