Dana White on Rousey-Tate: ‘Everyone’s seen that fight’

Miesha Tate’s name has been put on the table as fast as Ronda Rousey obliterated Bethe Correia, but an unfortunate turn of events saw the top-ranked contender fall off the conversation as “Rowdy’s” next opponent.

Rousey announced on the show “Good Morning America” she would instead face former boxer Holly Holm for her next title defense on UFC 195.

UFC President Dana White told Los Angeles Times everyone has witnessed what happened when Rousey and Tate fought, and a Rousey-Holm bout would be “intriguing.”

“We were talking about Miesha from the start, then as we started sitting around we were saying, ‘Everyone has seen the Miesha fight already,’ ” White said.

Rousey first fought Tate in Strikeforce in March 2012 and faced her again in the UFC in December 2013 where the current UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion ended with arm bars.

“A third fight in a rivalry usually comes after the stuff we’d see in [Arturo] Gatti-[Micky] Ward,” White told LA Times of the classic boxing trilogy. “With Miesha, the result has been the same twice. Everyone’s already seen that fight.”
