Hope Christian five, Pace stay unscathed
Hope Christian High School won twice over the weekend while Pace Academy picked up its fifth straight win and stayed in the lead of their respective divisions in the 26th Filipino-Chinese Amateur Athletic Federation (FCAAF) Basketball Championships at Chiang Kai Shek College gym in Manila.
Hope Christian nailed its fifth win last Saturday by downing St. Stephen’s HS, 65-40, before capping its week with a 73-47 rout of Philippine Cultural College (2-3) in the premier Division I of the tournament presented by Molten.
Reigning champion Chiang Kai Shek College downed Manila Patriotic School, 70-43, to clinch the second semifinal slot with a 5-1 card while Saint Jude Catholic School rose to 3-2 by whipping Philippine Chung Hua, 85-55.
Article continues after this advertisementPace clobbered Philippine Chen Kuang HS, 71-46, to also secure a semifinal berth in Division B-1.
Also in contention for semifinal berths are Paco Citizen Academy Foundation and Northern Rizal Yorklin School, which beat Phila-delphia HS, 79-41, and Grace Christian, 63-61, respectively to improve their cards to 4-1 and 3-2.
MGC New Life Christian Academy outsteadied Philippine Sun Yat Sen HS, 67-46, last Saturday before defeating Uno HS, 54-41, the next day to sail into the semifinals of Division B-2 with a 5-0 mark.
Article continues after this advertisementPSYSHS recovered from its loss to MGC-NLA by downing Philippine Institute of Quezon City, 84-47, to roll into the Final 4 along with St. Mary’s Angels College of Valenzuela, which trounced Makati Christian HC, 61-46.
