NU, DLSU near UAAP badminton semis
Defending UAAP Badminton champion National University and La Salle moved closer to the semifinals of the UAAP Seniors’ Badminton Tournament Saturday with separate 5-0 routs.
The Bulldogs dominated Adamson while the Green Archers trounced University of the East at the competitions held at Rizal Memorial Badminton Hall.
NU rookie Keeyan Gabuelo dismantled Adamson’s Gerloth Delizo, 21-5, 21-14, in the opening singles while Roslee Pedrosa dumped Kevin Fabros 21-15, 21-17 in the second singles.
Bulldogs pair Peter Magnaye and Alvin Morada ripped apart Elben Concha and Alvin Paclibare, 21-9, 21-8, to give NU the 3-0 clincher.
Article continues after this advertisementLa Salle’s EJ Boac trumped Red Warrior Benjamin Silla, 21-14, 21-9 in the first singles match while Kenneth Monterubio followed it up with a 21-18, 21-14 triumph over AJ Manlalangit in the second singles match.
Gerald Sibayan and Anton Canayan clinched it for the Green Archers with a 21-12, 21-8 wrap up of Clarence Camacho and King Arthur Espiritu.
