‘Drunk’ Ateneo player in viral video to face sanctions

John Apacible, a player from the Ateneo de Manila University men’s basketball team, was caught on video causing public disturbance Sunday.
In the video posted on Top Gear Philippines’ Facebook account which has gone viral, shows Apacible apparently drunk cursing and picking up a fight while also bragging his councilor protocol plate.
Article continues after this advertisementThe sophomore forward is expected to face disciplinary sanctions from Ateneo and the Blue Eagles management.
“It has come to our attention that John Apacible, a member of the Ateneo Blue Eagles, behaved in an unacceptable manner during an early Sunday morning encounter,” in a statement released by the school signed by Emmanuel Fernandez, director of university athletics office.
“John deeply regrets his reprehensible behavior and sincerely apologizes to all parties concerned,” the stament read. “Rest assured that the Blue Eagles Team Management as well as the Loyola Schools will deal with this regrettable incident appropriately and swiftly.”
Article continues after this advertisementThe person who submitted the video, as per Top Gear Philippines, said that the incident happened along Timog Avenue in Quezon City and he claimed that a “heavily drunk” Apacible also beat up a delivery van driver.
Policemen were also seen in the video but did not apprehend Apacible.
