PLDT Home Ultera went back to its winning ways after it humbled University of the Philippines, 25-12, 22-25, 25-15, 25-17, in the elimination stages of the Shakey’s V-League Reinforced Conference Saturday at San Juan Arena.

Substitute Ella De Jesus scored the winner for the Ultra Fast Hitters with a kill that landed squarely on the defense of the Lady Maroons.

PLDT head coach Roger Gorayeb said their five-setter loss to Philippine Army was “heartbreaking” but the win against UP was a great comeback for them.

“The kids played well here against UP, it was a great bounce back for us,” Gorayeb said as PLDT improved to 2-1.

Gorayeb said that he struggled with a slim lineup with only 11 active players, one of whom just recovered from sickness, against the full force of UP.

Lou Ann Latigay is listed but is still recovering.

Janine Marciano and Gretchel Soltones led PLDT with 16 points apiece while setter Rubie De Leon and Suzanne Roces each had nine points.

Maria Molde led UP, which absorbed its first loss, with 11 points while Diana Carlos added 10.
