Reyes downplays emphatic block on Valdez: ‘It’s part of the game’
In one of the highlights of Saturday night, Mika Reyes met Alyssa Valdez midair for the big block that summed up La Salle’s dominant win over Ateneo into one play.
Volleyball fans have been pitting the two stars against each other for reasons outside the game and Reyes’ emphatic denial on Valdez had social media buzzing.

Reyes didn’t put too much anything on the play that happened late in the second set aside from it being a simple block and nothing more.
“Part nang game yon (That’s part of the game), I guess. Kahit teammates ko nasi-single block siya (Even my teammates are able to block her),” the graduating Reyes said after the Lady Spikers’ 25-22, 25-14, 25-18 victory.

“Masasabi ko lang wala dapat lagyan ng issue doon (There’s no issue there). We’re friends ako na nagsasabi sa inyo (I can tell you that). Wag na tayo mag-create ng any issue kasi ayoko rin naman na magkaroon pa (Let’s not create any issue because I don’t want any issue stemming from it).”
The 21-year-old Reyes anchored La Salle’s defense that limited Valdez’s to measly 11 points, her worst scoring output this season.
