Floyd Mayweather Jr., may come out of retirement but it will take a series of events before it happens.

According to FightHype.com, the retired pound-for-pound king will fight Gennady Golovkin (34-0) if the middleweight champion beats super middleweight titlist Andre Ward (28-0).

Golovin and Ward’s camps have discussed a potential fight between the two fighters in 2015 but it never materialized, as they never agreed on a catch weight.

As per BoxingScene.com, Golovkin is willing to face Carl Froch, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., James DeGale, and Bernard Hopkins at 168 pounds, the super middleweight limit, but his team wants Wardd at 164 lbs.

Ward’s team wants the fight to happen at 168.

“When you hear stuff about Triple G, like I said before, I told Triple G what he had to do if he wants a fight with me,” Mayweather told FightHype.com. “He’s got to call out Andre Ward, beat Andre Ward, and then I’ll fight him.”

“I haven’t seen him call out Andre Ward yet.”

Making things bleaker for a Golovkin-Ward fight is the WBA super middleweight champion’s move to light heavyweight.

As for the time being, Mayweather remains happily retired, but if he does step back in the ring he would go for a welterweight bout and it would be against Danny Garcia.

And it would be him to call out the fight and not the other way around.

“Listen, if I want to fight someone, believe me, I’ll call you up. As of right now, let me rest. All I’m saying is let me rest. Let me rest. Please let me get 365 days of just rest. ‘When you going to fight again? When you going to fight again?’ All I want to do is just enjoy being retired. It’s crazy, I told them when I leave, they still going to miss me,” Mayweather said.

“If I did think about coming back, there’s only one name I’m looking at and that’s Danny Garcia. I have to say Danny Garcia because you look at Danny Garcia, he’s undefeated and he’s a world champion. If I’m going to fight a guy, it’s going to be a world champion.”
