Manila Masters fires off; Que, Tabuena favorites

09:30 PM May 03, 2016

Angelo Que, fresh off a top 10 finish on the Japan Tour, opens defense of his ICTSI Manila Masters title today as he leads a 93-strong field in the P3.5-million event at Eastridge Golf Club in Binangonan, Rizal.

The jolly long-hitter sets out as the favorite in the 72-hole championship along with fellow big guns Miguel Tabuena and Antonio Lascuña, who both have victories to show in this young season.

Tabuena will be shooting for a second win after ruling the season-opening Anvaya Cove stop, while Lascuña will be gunning for a follow-up of his triumph at Luisita close to two months ago.

A crack foreign delegation that has 11 South Koreans and the veteran Dutchman Guido Van Der Valk will be trying to take this championship away from the hands of a Filipino. Musong R. Castillo
