RC Cola, F2 dump foes, rise to 6-0 in Superliga

RC COLA-ARMY and F2 Logistics crushed their respective rivals at Batangas City Coliseum yesterday to stay unbeaten in the Philippine Superliga All Filipino Conference women’s volleyball tournament.
Hardly challenged again, RC Cola-Army defeated Generika, 25-13, 27-25, 25-19, while F2 Logistics dumped defending champion Petron, 25-15, 19-25, 25-19, 25-9, before a jam-packed crowd.
RC Cola-Army and F2 Logistics rose to 6-0 but one of them will get to taste defeat when they clash on Saturday.
In the third game, Foton routed Standard Insurance-Navy, 25-11, 25-22, 25-11, to post its fourth win in seven games.
The Navy Corvettes fell to 2-4.
Also providing thrill in PSL’s first out-of-town sortie this conference is the selection of Petron libero Jen Reyes as fourth member of the national team seeing action in the FIVB Women’s Club World Championships in October.
“She’s the best in the business when it comes to defending the floor,” PSL president Ramon “Tats” Suzara said of Reyes.
“I’m super happy because I didn’t expect to be chosen,” said Reyes, who joins Kim Fajardo, Jovelyn Gonzaga and Rachel Anne Daquis in the national team. “I will treasure this for the rest of my career.”
Rookie Ara Galang pumped in 12 points for the Cargo Movers, who unleashed the full brunt of their firepower against the disjointed Tri Activ Spikers.
Fajardo also finished with 29 excellent sets for F2 and sparked a 16-7 fourth-set rally that finally knocked out Petron.
