Ramirez to help Onyok air incentive plight to Duterte

/ 11:26 PM August 21, 2016

PHILIPPINE Sports Commission Chair Butch Ramirez said he will help Mansueto “Onyok” Velasco arrange a meeting with President Duterte regarding an incentive he has yet to get after bagging a silver medal in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

Velasco found the opportunity to seek help after Hidilyn Diaz took home a weightlifting silver in the Rio de Janeiro Olympics and earned at least P7.5 million in cash.
The boxer, who has since dabbled in the entertainment business, said he’s asking for the P2.5 million the Congress back then approved via a special incentive bill.

“President Duterte has a soft heart especially for the athletes who gave glory to the country,” said Ramirez, who promised to bring up Velasco’s plight next week.
