Star may be in a precarious position this late in the 2016 PBA Governors’ Cup, but Joel Wright won’t change anything with the environment he’s in.

“I wouldn’t change the situation I’m in. I got some great guys in the locker room with me. I’ll go with all of them any day, I love playing with them, and I’ll do anything for them,” he said.

Following another loss, this time a 106-93 defeat to Phoenix on Friday, Wright says that the Hotshots should just stay the course and do what they are doing all season long: play hard.

“We just got to keep playing hard,” he said. “All I can do is just go out and give my all and that’s what I’ve been doing since Day 1. I’m not mad at myself, I’m not mad at my team. We just got to keep playing hard and keep pushing through.”

Wright finished with 29 points and 11 rebounds in the game, but that still wasn’t enough as Star rolled to its fifth straight defeat, its longest losing skid in 11 years.

Sporting a 1-7 record, the Hotshots are in danger of missing the playoffs for the first time since the 2011 Commissioner’s Cup.

Now all Wright wants from his teammates is to play with “a little more sense of urgency.”

“That goes for all of us, including myself. We just got to know that our record is 1-7 and we need to have some pride. That’s why I go out there and play hard, try to bring energy, try to do everything I possibly can,” he said. “The PBA is just something I got to get used to, just playing out there and it’s my first time over here. Hopefully, we can pick up one of these next three games.”

“We just got to keep playing hard and just try to pull out a win. That’s all.”
