‘Aggressive’ Trinidad ends shooting slump in FEU win over UST

Jojo Trinidad was having one of his worse times as a Tamaraw with a four-game shooting slump.

But Trinidad managed to get his redemption as Far Eastern U trumped University of Santo Tomas, 79-72, in the UAAP Season 79 men’s basketball tournament.

The third-year guard waxed hot and put up a season-best 17 points, all but two coming from long distance.

“I was aggressive and the shots went in,” said Trinidad as the Tamaraws improved to second place, 4-2, in the eight-team ladder. “Coach [Nash Racela] said in the beginning of the game to look for the best shot possible.”

His last double-digit scoring output was in FEU’s opening game loss to La Salle back in Sept. where he scored 12 points.

“I was going through a slump and the coaches and my teammates helped me out,” said Trinidad. “My shots went in and I stayed aggressive.”

“I think I was just overthinking things and trying to force my shots, today I felt the game come to me.”
