The Philippine Olympic Committee election body has junked the appeal of boxing chief Ricky Vargas to run against incumbent POC president Jose Cojuangco Jr. in the Nov. 25 polls.
The commission on election, headed by former International Olympic Committee representative Frank Elizalde, maintained its initial position that Vargas failed to meet the required attendance in the POC general assembly.

“The election committee failed and refused to see the merits of the arguments raised by Mr. Vargas,” said Salud. “It has chosen to stick to its myopic and unreasonable interpretation of ‘active member.’”
