PH paddlers take on Asia’s best

After conquering the world stage, the Philippine dragon boat team will bring the same ferocity against the best in the continent in the 2016 Asian Dragon Boat Championships in Puerto Princesa City in Palawan.

Winning the 10-seater 200-meter and 500m events will be the objective of the Filipino paddlers, who won three gold medals in the recent International Canoe Federation Dragon Boat World Championships in Moscow, Russia.

This time, the Philippines will be ranged against Asia’s top contenders—Japan, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Thailand, India and Iran, among others—in the two-day continental championships beginning today.

“We’ve prepared long and hard for this,” said coach Len Escollante.
