No more of those luscious locks for the Lady Blazers of College of St. Benilde.

After losing to Lyceum last Dec. 6 in the NCAA Season 92 women’s volleyball tournament, the players went one with their bet to give up their long hair on their first setback.

While head coach Michael Cariño was expecting a sweep from the team, the players also took it upon themselves to raise the stakes.

“It’s like a bet for them, if they lose one game they will get a haircut,” said Cariño Thursday at San Juan Arena after St. Benilde stopped San Beda in four sets 12-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-19.

“Our target was to sweep the eliminations really, and if weren’t able to do that they’ll have a haircut. I don’t know if they’ll do that again if we lose.”

St. Benilde is now back to winning with a young two-game unbeaten streak heading into the final stretch of the elimination round.

Cariño is also relieved he can leave his team unattended without his players going wayward.

“At least I know my team’s working on their own because they themselves are doing something to motivate each other,” said Cariño who didn’t shave his head.
