Cignal edges Wangs in PBA D-League

Cignal-San Beda outlasted Wangs Basketball, 84-77, Thursday in the 2017 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
Jason Perkins topped the Hawkeyes with a double-double of 19 points, 18 rebounds to go along with three assists, while Javee Mocon chimed in 15 markers.
Davon Potts scattered 12 points for Cignal’s second win in three games.
“Credit to Wangs. They prepared hard against us,” said a relieved Cignal coach Boyet Fernandez. “It’s a learning lesson for everyone. Every time, we have to come in and play active and match up the energy of
the other team.”
The Couriers kept the game close and even gained an 11-point edge, 54-43 in the third quarter before Mocon and Pamboy Raymundo brought the Hawkeyes back in the game and eventually, seize the lead in the final three minutes.
Raymundo unloaded all of his eight markers in the fourth period.
Marlon Gomez paced Wangs (1-2) with 22 points and 12 rebounds, while Rey Publico got 10 makers and six boards.
