/ 02:31 AM February 16, 2017

President Duterte is not concentrating only on his war on drugs.

He’s also waging war against disunited and non-performing national sports associations (NSAs).

Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chair Butch Ramirez said the President has issued an order to stop giving support to NSAs that are not doing their jobs.

However, Ramirez refused to name these associations.

The athletes also keep on complaining to the PSC that their NSAs are not supporting their preparations and training for international competitions.

According to Ramirez, the PSC has to exercise its supervisory power now and stop the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) from dictating NSAs what to do.

The government sports funding agency head clarified that even the International Olympic Committee cannot dictate on different IFs and that the NSAs should be independent and
autonomous.

Ramirez said from now on he will monitor all NSAs and will open the agency’s door to athletes seeking assistance.

He mentioned bowler
Enzo Hernandez, swimmer Jasmine Alkhaldi and tennis player Marian Capadocia.

Their training is now being supported by the PSC.

On the other hand, the government agency is now laying the blue print in the implementation of regional and national competitions this year.
