Roselle Baliton, University of the East’s 6-foot-1 setter, is just in her third year in college but it seems she’s already at peace with all the negativity the world has thrown at her.

Baliton was at the receiving end of harsh comments online on Tuesday the moment the 25-man pool for the volleyball national team was revealed to the public.

“I read things that aren’t exactly supportive but it is what it is, that’s part of life, and that’s part of growing up” said Baliton after the Lady Warriors’ 25-14, 18-25, 25-15, 25-10 setback to University of the Philippines in the UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball tournament Wednesday.

The reason for the hate was the fact that Baliton was chosen to the national team roster instead of Ateneo setter Jia Morado, who’s been tearing it up in the UAAP as she leads the Lady Eagles to a league-best 8-1 slate.

Morado, though she didn’t directly point to Baliton, said that everyone in the pool deserved to be included.

Baliton added that she’s motivated by all the hate she has received.

“Of course I’m motivated, and my teammates are there to support me,” said Baliton. “So their messages of support lift me up. I just focus on the positive comments instead of feeling miserable.”
