Gonzaga cops MVP title

Veteran spiker Jovelyn Gonzaga captured the Most Valuable Player award to lead the Cignal standouts who copped individual honors in the 2017 Philippine Superliga Invitational Saturday.

The 25-year-old Gonzaga, one of the anchors in the HD Spikers’ title run, earned her second league MVP while teammates Jheck Dionela (Best Libero), Chie Saet (Best Setter), Rachel Anne Daquis (2nd Best Outside Spiker) and Maica Morada (2nd Best Middle Blocker) also took home honors.

Cignal emerged as the best local team and shared the crown with Japan’s Kobe Shinwa University, the foreign team that completed a sweep of the round-robin title round. —MARK GIONGCO, Inquirer,net
