According to the university’s official student publication The Varsitarian, 46-year-old Fernando Torres was rushed to the Manila Doctors Hospital on United Nations Avenue after collapsing during the National Geographic Earth Day Run 2017 at SM Mall of Asia last Sunday.

The esteemed lecturer, who was already suffering from an abnormal beating of the heart or  arrhythmia, took part in the 42-kilometer category and fainted just five kilometers away from the finish line.

“I think his greatest achievement, without him realizing it, is how he has inspired and helped countless students,” Carolina told the publication. “He really cares for the welfare of the students, he wants to see them reach their full potential.”

Torres started teaching photography in CFAD in 2003, after obtaining his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the College of Commerce and Business Administration.

Those who wish to visit his remains may proceed to the Arlington Memorial Chapel, Quezon City from April 25 to 29. Khristian Ibarrola/JB
