Zark’s Burger takes grassroots cagers to D-League
Dominating the recreational leagues around the metro, Zark’s Burger will now make the leap as it brings its act to the next level with its entry in the PBA D-League.
“(We’ve) thinking about this for a long time. We’ve been joining leagues for years but now is the right time to take our team to the next level just like raising the level of our brand,” said Jawbreakers team owner Commie Zark Espina-Varona on Friday.

And for the young mentor, the goal is simple: field in a competitive team which can spring out surprises this conference.
“We know we’re underdogs, but we’re giving an opportunity to the players from the grassroots level. We will be competitive this season,” said Padrigao.
Article continues after this advertisementEx-pro Robby Celiz will captain the Jawbreakers, where he will be tasked to lead the newcomers in the 11-team field starting on May 25.
He will be joined by veteran forward James Mangahas, UST’s Jamil Sheriff and Clark Bautista, UE’s RR de Leon and Steven Cudal, UP’s Mark Juruena, St. Benilde’s RJ Argamino, Adamson’s Joseph Nalos, Lyceum’s Chris Cayabyab, Victoria Sports’ Job Cariaga, and Mindanao’s Jerome Ferrer.
“Our vision is the same with our restaurants. We want to be competitive in our start and contend in the future. And hopefully, if our brand continues to grow, make it to the PBA,” said Espina-Varona. IDL
