Reyes not expecting, but nurses hopes of making national team
Even with her talent and popularity, volleyball superstar Mika Reyes is not sure of making the national team.
Reyes, speaking after the “Clash of Heroes” game Monday night, said she is not keeping her hopes high in making the national team, which would release its final 18-player lineup this Friday.
“I’m not expecting (to be chosen); I came to the tryouts just showing who I am as a player. I’m open to learning more from the coaches,” said Reyes, who powered Philippine Team Blue against Jaja Santiago-led Team Red in the five-set match.

The former La Salle standout and now Petron starter steered Blue from two sets down to a 19-25, 22-25, 25-19, 25-15, 15-10 victory.
“The teams were not divided equally because some of the players didn’t make it so we were underdogs,” said Reyes. “But I didn’t want to just give up.”
