Malaysia finishes fourth in Seaba, keeps Myanmar winless
Malaysia gained a bit of consolation as it collected its third straight win, a 96-71 victory over Myanmar to end its 2017 Seaba Championship campaign with an even record Thursday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Liaw Chee Huei steered the Malaysians to the win with 25 points on an efficient 12-of-13 shooting from the field, to go with seven rebounds, five assists, and two steals to secure a fourth place finish with their 3-3 card.
Article continues after this advertisementChin Zhi Shin contributed a double-double of 22 markers and 13 boards, while Heng Yee Tong went 2-of-6 from threes to wound up with 12 points, five assists and six steals.
The Burmese showed some semblance of a fight, keeping the game close and trailed 30-26 with 3:33 left in the second quarter.
Malaysia, however, went on a full court press which translated to a 15-2 blast, giving its side a 45-28 lead late in the first half.
Article continues after this advertisementThe triumph, however, came at the expense of Choo Wei Hong injuring his left leg on a rebound play midway in the fourth quarter with the game already decided.
Wana Aung hit a tournament second-best 31 points, to go with three assists and two rebounds for Myanmar, which ended the tournament with a 0-6 record. IDL
