LeBron James continued to break records in the NBA Finals, setting new league bests in Game 4 of the best-of-seven series between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors.

According to a report by Dave McMenamin on ESPN, James is now the record-holder for most triple-doubles scored in an NBA Finals series as he notched his ninth in the Cavaliers’ 137-116 win Saturday (Manila time) at home to stay alive in their title defense.

He broke the record previously held by Los Angeles great Magic Johnson, who called James the “King of Triple Doubles for the NBA Finals” in a congratulatory tweet.

He could’ve taken over the record in Game 3 but came up an assist short with 39 points, 11 boards and nine dimes.

James also became the third best in the all-time NBA Finals scoring list, eclipsing NBA legend Michael Jordan, in his 44th NBA Finals Game. He only trails Jerry West and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

The hometown hero also set the new record for most career free throws made in the playoffs, also beating Jordan, who is regarded as the greatest of all time.

Despite saying that he is “mentally and physically” drained after the close Game 3 loss, James continues to power through for Cleveland along with Kyrie Irving, who has been masterful all-series long.
