Corbin wins Money in the Bank; Mahal retains WWE title

Baron Corbin wasted no time sending his message and became the newest Mr. Money in the Bank in the main event of the Money in the Bank pay-per-view Monday (Manila time) at Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri.

The Lone Wolf attacked Shinsuke Nakamura during his entrance and imposed his presence on the other four competitors, namely United States Champion Kevin Owens, AJ Styles, Sami Zayn, and Dolph Ziggler.

Nakamura came back and inserted himself back into the fray, dueling Styles late and even raced to the top of the ladder. But Corbin pushed off the ladder to send both competitors tumbling down the floor, which gave him the opportunity to retrieve the briefcase.

Corbin now earned a shot at the WWE title, which he can cash in anytime he deems fit.

Also, Jinder Mahal disposed Randy Orton to successfully defend his WWE Championship.

The Modern Day Maharaja once again utilized on the distraction provided by his cohorts the Singh Brothers as he pinned the Apex Predator in front of the latter’s home crowd.

Carmella also became the first Ms. Money in the Bank thanks to the aid of James Ellsworth.

Ellsworth pushed Becky Lynch off of a ladder and unhooked the briefcase, only to hand it down to the Princess of Staten Island.

She also bested Charlotte Flair, Tamina, and Natalya in their five-way women’s ladder match to open the night.

Naomi also retained her SmackDown Women’s Championship after submitting the debuting Lana to her FTG despite the distraction from Carmella.

The Usos kept their SmackDown Tag Team Championship as they handed the New Day a count-out victory.

Maria also returned to the WWE together with her husband Mike Kanellis as they addressed the crowd and announced their signing in the SmackDown brand.
