Cobra, FCA clash for lead

LOCKED IN a four-way tie on top, Cobra Energy Drink and FCA try to boost their quarterfinal hopes when they clash today in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the San Juan Gym.

The Ironmen and the Cultivators, tied with Cebuana Lhuillier and Max Bond, clash at 4 p.m. with Cobra enjoying a slight edge following the suspension of FCA ace Alfred Gerilla due to a flagrant foul.

Pharex, meanwhile, tries to halt a three-game slide against Freego Jeans in a Group A match at 2 p.m.

Only the top two teams in each group will earn an automatic quarterfinal berth, while the rest of the teams tangle in the first round of the playoffs.

PBA commissioner Chito Salud yesterday suspended Gerilla for committing a flagrant foul 2 in Thursday’s game won by the Cultivators over Café France, 89-80.

Gerilla, who norms 11.3 points, was ejected in the second quarter after an elbow hit Café France’s Leymund Babad on the face.

Mark Canlas and Sean Co combined for 30 points in FCA’s Thursday victory.
