Philippine Olympic Committee president Peping Cojuangco is planning to discourage the participation of more indigenous sports beginning with the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.

Cojuangco said he would bring up the issue in the next SEA Games Federation meeting where top national Olympic committee officials from the 11 participating countries are expected to show up.

“I want to set the trend of limiting the participation of indigenous games among host countries in the SEA Games,” said Cojuangco, the SEA Games Federation president.

“I don’t want to display a trophy at the office that we won by cheating our rivals,” said Cojuangco, who wants the country to be fair hosts.
