Arellano wins two straight, Perpetual starts off strong

Arellano University steamrolled Emilio Aguinaldo College, 25-19, 25-12, 25-11, for its second straight win in the NCAA Season 93 women’s volleyball Sunday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

The Lady Chiefs are atop the 12-team ladder with a 2-0 card with Necole Ebuen pacing the march with 15 points while Jovielyn Prado adding 12 points.

The win also marked Arellano’s 14th straight win that started in their championship-winning year in Season 92.

Arellano head coach Obet Javier said they have to start piling up wins as NCAA’s format allows the team with the most wins a twice-to-beat advantage in the semifinals.

“We can’t afford mistakes in this kind of format so we have to get as many wins as we can,” said Javier in Filipino.

Also, Macky Cariño had his first game as the head coach of the Lady Altas leading the team to a three-set sweep of Lyceum, 25-21, 25-17, 25-22.

Maria Lourdes Clemente led Perpetual with 14 points while Cindy Imbo and Maria Tripoli had 13 and 10 points, respectively.
