MANILA, Philippines—Boracay Rum tries to sustain its steady climb against skidding Big Chill in the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup Wednesday at the San Juan Gym.

Now running third, the Waves go for a fifth victory in the 4 p.m. duel which coach Lawrence Chongson said will be crucial in their bid to go all the way to the top spot.

“We have a long way to go but we’ll really do our best to get five straight wins,” said Chongson. “We want to be No. 1.”

RnW Pacific Pipes also shoot for a fourth triumph against the winless Cobra Energy Drink at 2 p.m.

Led by Glenn Khobuntin and Maclean Sabelina, the Waves turned back Dub Unlimited, 72-68, for their third win in a row.

“We’re treating this as a do-or-die week for us,” said Chongson. “We are not yet safely inside the top six so we’ve got our work cut out for us.”

Only the top two teams at the end of the eliminations will earn outright semifinal berths, while the rest slug it out in the quarterfinals.
