Jarvey Gayoso scored a brace as defending champion Ateneo downed La Salle, 2-1, in the UAAP Season 80 men’s football tournament Thursday at Rizal Memorial Stadium.

The reigning MVP picked up the scoring in the second half, first putting the Blue Eagles ahead at the 50th minute before doubling the lead at the 66th minute where he eluded two defenders before sending the ball to the back of the net.

Mauro Acot chalked one for the Green Archers at the 83rd minute, but the Taft side’s comeback bid fell short in the end.
