Well-rested Wangs-Letran blasts JRU, ends 2-game skid
Wangs Basketball-Letran capitalized on its 18-day rest and pounded Jose Rizal University, 73-55, to halt its two-game losing skid Monday in the 2018 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup at JCSGO Gym in Cubao.
Christian Fajarito had his best game to date, scattering 15 points and seven rebounds for the Couriers.
Article continues after this advertisementBong Quinto unloaded 13 markers, four boards, and two assists, while Jerrick Balanza came off the bench and poured in 12 points on top of three rebounds, and two dimes for Wangs-Letran, which improved to 3-2.
“We just made sure that we correct the mistakes we had in our last two games. Luckily, it gave us a good result and that’s why we got the win,” said coach Jeff Napa.
The Couriers slowly broke the game wide open, taking a 32-25 halftime lead which extended to as high as 22, 60-38 late in the third period behind Quinto, who had eight of his team’s 28 points in the frame.

Aaron De Guzman led the skidding Heavy Bombers, who suffered their fifth straight defeat, in scoring with 12 points and four rebounds, while Jeckster Apinan had 10 markers and 14 rebounds.
