UAAP softball: UE blanks NU in playoff for No. 3

University of the East advanced to the UAAP Season 80 softball semifinals in style, shutting out National University with a 7-0 romp Saturday at Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium.

The Lady Warriors swept the season series with the Lady Bulldogs and in turn, got the third seed after the two squads finished the eliminations with identical 7-5 records.

UE now braces for its semifinals date against second-ranked University of Santo Tomas, which sent also-ran University of the Philippines out of the tournament with a 6-2 win last Thursday.

Meanwhile, No. 4 NU takes on defending champion Adamson, which wrapped up its eliminations assignment with a 10-0 thumping of La Salle.

Both the Lady Falcons and the Tigresses will enjoy a twice-to-beat advantage in the Final Four.
