Anton nails autocross debut win
Iñigo Anton kicked off his autocross racing debut with a victory in the novice championship as the 2018 Autocross Series started at Meycauayan Commercial Complex in Bulacan.
The 13-year-old Anton, the youngest national slalom racing champion, blasted through the 1.8-kilometer stage in 57.01 seconds using the Mark Young-Mohspeed prepared Honda EF, claiming the Novice Best Time of the Day over Ryan Ablang (1:00.99) and Brian Ngo (1:01.13).
Even more impressive, Anton also registered the fourth fastest time of the day overall in the All-Honda class, clocking 55.83 seconds.
Article continues after this advertisement“Iñigo really worked hard for this and practiced throughout the Christmas break to be in top form this year,” said Carlos Anton, Iñigo’s father who is the 2009 Philippine autocross champion.
“Still, we were surprised with his skills and we didn’t expect him to run at such a fast pace because this is his autocross debut.”
The younger Anton will also compete in the National Slalom Championship, karting and endurance races this year.
