Freddie still Manny’s guy
If ever he decides to part ways with Freddie Roach, Manny Pacquiao is going to make sure the seven-time trainer of the year will be duly informed.
Pacquiao made the clarification in the wake of reports that he has relieved Roach of coaching duties for his world title fight against Lucas Matthysse on July 15 (July 14 in the United States) in Kuala Lumpur.
“Contrary to statements which I personally did not make that are circulating in the media, I have not made my decision who will be my head trainer for my July 14 fight with Matthysse,” Pacquiao tweeted Monday morning.

“When that decision is made, Freddie will be the first one to be informed and then I will advise the media,” said Pacquiao, who’s reportedly eyeing bosom friend Buboy Fernandez to take over Roach’s corner spot.
On Saturday, Roach, who’s been Pacquiao’s trainer for over 15 years, said he got hurt that Pacquiao didn’t personally inform him about his sacking. —ROY LUARCA
