“Even during the the first conference we were already thinking of moving Rashawn to the perimeter spot because he’s a natural scorer so we needed to look for a point guard. We searched in the free agent pool and we found King,” said Dandan.

King, who was relegated to the unrestricted free agent list by Rain or Shine at the end of the Philippine Cup, didn’t waste anytime in proving that he still deserves a roster spot with stunning debut for his new team.

The 27-year-old Fil-American exploded for a career-best 30 points to lead his team to a masterful 126-98 win over Blackwater in the 2018 Commissioner’s Cup opener.

“It’s really fast-paced and that suits me well. I did the same thing in college. Coach Ricky likes fast,”said King, who suited up for Long Beach State in college.

Despite playing for only nine games spanning only two conferences, King was still grateful for his brief stint with the Elasto Painters.

“I learned a lot there (Rain or Shine) and I brought it here,” said King, who only scored 26 points in his first nine games in the PBA.

Nobody expected King’s performance that included five 3-pointers, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Except King himself.
