Ababa, Bayrons in ICTSI jungolf pro-am today

Philippine Golf Tour Rookie of the Year Jonel Ababa and brothers Jay and Rufino Bayron head a group of top pros seeing action with junior aces in the ICTSI-JGFP Pro-Am Invitational tournament Monday at the Player couse of the Orchard Golf and Country Club in Dasmariñas, Cavite.

Ababa, a two-time winner in his rookie season, and the Bayron brothers, who were also leg winners this year on the pro tour, will try to lead their teams to victory in the four-player scramble event, part of back-to-back competitions capping the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines’ year-long activities.

The International Container Terminal Services, Inc. sponsors JGFP tournaments with the support of Philippine Airlines, Chevrolet, Pancake House Group, Teriyaki Boy and Sizzlin’ Pepper.

On Tuesday, the Alabang Golf and Country Club will host the Alabang Junior Open.

Meanwhile, La Salle Green Hills topped the juniors division in the second leg of the 2011 ICTSI Interschool golf tournament to lead the qualifiers for the finals set Jan. 9 and 11, also at the Orchard.

LSGH scored 962 points to run away with the crown, finishing far ahead of La Salle Zobel which checked in at 844. Xavier 1 placed third at 795, Ateneo 1 fourth at 730 and Ateneo 2 fifth at 579.

De La Salle Zobel claimed the Girls 1 title with a 657 total, beating Assumption which had 583 and Miriam (245).

St. Paul’s Pasig took the Girls 1 title, winning handily over Assumption 1.

Earlier, Xavier 4 captured the Midgets 1 plum while Ateneo 2 claimed the Midgets 1 diadem.
