Miguel Tabuena loses Asian Tour card by $250

CHONBURI, Thailand—Rookie pro Miguel Tabuena lost his touch in the final round of the Thailand Golf Championship Sunday, carding his worst score of 4-over-par 76 and lost by only $250 to South African Keith Horne for the 61st and final qualifying slot for next year’s Asian Tour.

The 17-year-old former Asian Games golf silver medalist two years ago finished in a six-way tie for 39th place at 292 together with Frankie Miñoza, who had a 77, with both Filipinos earning just $6,200 each.

Tabuena, who turned pro last February, went on to finish with $65,647 for 62nd place in the Order of Merit based on total winnings.

Horne wound up with $65,897 by picking up $2,950 in tying for 61st at 298.

Finishing just ahead of Horne in 60th place was Antonio Lascuña, who totaled 299 like Mars Pucay as they shot 79s. Lascuña ended up with $68,172 even as Pucay wound up 49th with total take of $77,517.

Angelo Que, who missed the halfway cut like Asian Order of Merit champion Juvic Pagunsan, wound up at No. 25 with $167,431.

Tabuena, who had earlier rounds of 74-70-72, dropped four strokes on the front nine and managed only a 36 coming home for his 76.

Meanwhile, Englishman Lee Westwood fired a 69 for a 266 total and surged to a seven-shot win over South African Charl Schwartzel (72) that is set to push him up to second in the world rankings.
